Ryan Gosling has opened up about the moment he was punched by Harrison Ford on the set of Blade Runner 2049.

Gosling, 36, said he was far from angered by the blow, and instead described the moment as a “privilege”.

Speaking at a photocall in Madrid, Spain, ahead of the film’s release he said: “Will I say it was my fault because my face leaned in a little too close to his fist? It happens.

“It’s not something I’m ashamed of – if it’s going to happen, let it be delivered by Harrison Ford.

“It was a privilege.”

Gosling’s comments were in response to Ford, who said the La La Land star was “90 per cent” to blame for getting hit because “his job was to be out of the range of the punch”.

Recalling the moment he told GQ: “I punched Ryan Gosling in the face. Ryan Gosling’s face was where it should not have been.

“His job was to be out of the range of the punch. My job was also to make sure that I pulled the punch. But we were moving, and the camera was moving, so I had to be aware of the angle to the camera to make the punch look good.

“You know, I threw about a hundred punches in the shooting of it, and I only hit him once.”

The highly-anticipated follow-up to the 1982 cult classic sees Ford reprise his role as blade runner Deckard, while Gosling plays LAPD officer, K.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film also stars Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Barkhad Abdi, and Dave Bautista also star.

Blade Runner 2049 is slated for UK cinema release on October 6.
