What is a CSD file?

The .csd file extension is used for a temporary file format that was developed by Microsoft. These CSD files can normally be seen in Microsoft SharePoint Server. Also known as Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 temporary files, these .csd files are usually found when a backup process is being performed in version 2007 of Microsoft SharePoint Server.

A CSD file is not meant to be opened. This does not contain any human-readable data. These .csd files may be deleted after a backup process has successfully completed in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007.
